The fair originates from a club founded in 1967 and is organised by Mineralien- und Fossilienfreunde Bern. The 2026 event marks the 59th edition. Leadership for the fair is currently held by Joachim Braunwarth and Daniel Schimmer, who succeeded long-time fair chief Edi Rippstein.
Since 2024 the event moved to Thun-Expo, a change that continues for 2026. The relocation aims to refresh the format and give Swiss collectors and local strahler renewed visibility.
