# Events for Technology Companies

The best technology trade shows and conferences of 2026 with dates and cities. Where IT and digital leaders gather in Europe and Spain, and how to prepare your presence.

Technology & IT

Joaquín Montesinos • Published September 2, 2026

Technology is the sector with the highest concentration of B2B events in the world. Software, hardware, IT services, telecommunications, data, and artificial intelligence each have their own circuit of trade shows and conferences, and technology has also become a cross-cutting theme at the trade shows of almost every other industry. For a company selling technology, an event brings together IT, digital transformation, and business leaders from hundreds of companies in just a few days.

It is a fast sector, with short product cycles and enormous competition for attention. This guide goes over what types of events exist, who you will meet, and how to prepare your presence so it turns into opportunities.

### Mobile World Congress 2027, Barcelona

## What Types of Events Exist in the Sector

The technology calendar mixes very different formats, and it pays to know which one you are in before committing a budget.

- **Large general technology trade shows.** Thousands of exhibitors, tens of thousands of visitors, and plenty of press. They are the showcase and meeting point for the whole ecosystem, with huge and barely filtered traffic.
- **Specialized conferences by discipline.** Cybersecurity, cloud, data, artificial intelligence, telecommunications, or industrial software. A smaller and far more technical audience, with deeper conversations.
- **Startup and innovation events.** Built around pitching, investment, and corporate partnerships, with a very dynamic atmosphere and a strong founder presence.
- **Technology areas inside other sectors’ trade shows.** More and more industrial, healthcare, retail, logistics, or construction fairs include a digital hall or track. They are often the best place to sell technology applied to a specific vertical.

## What Attendee Profile You Will Find

At these events you will run into CTOs and IT directors, digital transformation leads, architects and technical teams, product profiles, founders, and, increasingly, business leaders who buy technology without going through the IT department. There are also plenty of integrators, consultancies, and other vendors, who are competitors and potential channel partners at the same time.

The buying decision is usually shared. The technical side validates, the business side sponsors, and procurement closes. At the event you typically talk to one of the three, so it helps to identify quickly which role your contact plays and what information they need to take back.

## What Works in This Sector

- **Short demos with the real product.** The audience wants to see the tool working, not a slide deck. A five-minute demo on a concrete case is worth more than any brochure.
- **A ten-second message.** Visitors walk past dozens of stands a day. If they do not understand what you do and for whom in the first sentence, they keep walking.
- **Integration and fit with their stack.** Every company already has systems running. Explaining what you connect to and what it takes to get started removes one of the main objections.
- **Meetings booked before you travel.** At large events, walk-up traffic is poorly qualified. The conversations that matter are the ones booked weeks in advance with the attendee list in hand.
- **Technical content with real value.** A talk, workshop, or case study in the program attracts exactly the profile you want and gives you credibility beyond being one more stand.

## What to Watch Out For

Size works against you. At a show with thousands of exhibitors it is easy to spend three days without talking to a single relevant decision maker. Without a target list and without filtering at the stand, the time goes to browsers, students, and other vendors.

The pace of the sector also deserves attention. Trends change every year and the pitch that worked last edition can sound dated. Arriving with an up-to-date reading of what worries the customer, from artificial intelligence to regulation or infrastructure costs, makes the difference between looking like one more vendor and a partner who understands their moment.

## How to Prepare a Technology Event

Before traveling, it is worth knowing which companies will be there and which ones match your [ideal customer profile](https://dataorigin.es/en/blog/ideal-customer-profile-trade-shows/), gathering that information early, since [getting the attendee list](https://dataorigin.es/en/blog/get-event-attendee-exhibitor-list/) is the most laborious part, and arriving with meetings already booked. Our [trade show preparation checklist](https://dataorigin.es/en/blog/trade-show-preparation-checklist/) works as a step-by-step guide.

## Find and Prioritize the Right Companies

The challenge in technology is not a shortage of events, but choosing well and arriving at each one knowing who to see. Among thousands of attendees and exhibitors, the time goes into locating the few who truly fit you.

At DataOrigin we solve this by identifying, for each event in the sector, which companies match your ideal customer profile by sector, size, and country. That way you arrive with a prioritized list and spend the show days on the conversations that matter.
